Rector’s message 9th June 2023

The wait is over ..almost!

On Sunday 18th June we are holding our first Sunday services back in the church since March 2022. Alleluia! The wait is over! Now we can start not only to imagine but to create the new future of this church building as a community space for many different kinds of events and activities , not least worship of course. As a foretaste of this range of uses, the very first public event in the church will be 12 hours earlier on Saturday 17th June with a concert by Wokingham Choral Society “A Night at the Opera”.

This week sees the last progress report  on the building works because, as Anne King reports, very soon now you will be able to see further developments with your own eyes. Anne’s final report details the few remaining pieces of work,  which will be done after the building is opened. From the 18th June until mid-July the church will be open to the public on Saturdays and Sundays only, because during the next month or so the new PA system and the organ will be installed.

The service of Thanksgiving and Re-dedication takes place on Monday 19th June with the Bishop of Oxford and many community  representatives. Everyone is welcome. It will be really helpful if we could know if you do plan to come – not a ticket just an indication to us for seating and catering numbers. Please click this link.
