What’s been happening in the church this week?

Progress report – 9th  June  2023

This is your very last progress report.  Not so much because there will be no more work, but because you can see for yourselves. Contractors still need to install the organ and permanent PA system (we are hiring for 19th), reinstate the path by The Cornerstone, install the new external south doors to replace the ply, the worktops on the mobile servery units and the new book storage on the west wall and put up the wrought iron railings between the Lady Chapel and chancel.

Pictures this week are all evidence of the ending – the cabins being moved, new lighting at the main entrance, and the accessible door working at last – and this was not a contractor walking through – but a member of the staff of the Red Cross to whom we are talking about how they may use the building. And the very best evidence of the end of the work, a view of the Lady Chapel after very detailed attention by our working party last week.

There are a lot of jobs for our working parties to do next week.  If you can help, please contact anneking@allsaintswokingham.org.uk.  It will be a dirty but very satisfying job!

Please celebrate the opening of the church by giving to the project!

Weekday worship continues in The Cornerstone until 15th July (Tuesday and Wednesday at 10 am and Thursday at 9 am) but will be back in church on Sundays from 18th June.  Access to the churchyard will be easier but the path beside the Cornerstone will be closed until the end of the month. A massive thank you to the bell ringers who have rung for us every Sunday regardless of how open the church has been and to our contractors for making that possible.
