Whilst retaining its role as a place of worship this spacious church building will be turned into an accessible and flexible community meeting space, an inspiring venue for cultural and educational events, and a centre for discovering our local heritage.
By creating this large accessible space with café / drop-in facilities, being used by the community for all kinds of meetings and events, which will open every day, the vision for spaceforall is to see:
- people coming together for mutual support
- increases in people’s well-being
- loneliness and isolation for people being reduced
- easy access to support from local statutory and voluntary services and groups
- connections being made between people and groups across the community
- local community groups and activities able to reach out more
- easier access to learning and personal development opportunities in the community
- community groups working together and with the church community
- people engaging with the arts and culture in an inspiring local venue
- day conferences and conventions making use of the space including access to additional spaces in The Cornerstone and enjoying access to 4 acres of green space in the churchyard
- the historic fabric of the building restored and maintained
- people engaging with the heritage of the building and Wokingham’s local history
- more people finding enjoyment in maintaining and sustaining the biodiversity of the churchyard
- opportunities for diverse expressions of worship
- better access to support for people wanting to explore spirituality.
