ALL SAINTS WOKINGHAM MOTHERS’ UNION
INVITATION
Please come and join us for our Annual General Meeting
Wednesday 25th January 7.15 for 7.30 in The Cornerstone
Find out about the work of MU, our 2023 Branch programme and see a tribute to our late patron, Queen Elizabeth.
Founded in 1876 by Mary Sumner, in Old Alresford Rectory just over 30 miles from here, there are now over 4 million members of Mothers’ Union in over 80 countries worldwide, from Canada, the Americas, most countries in Africa to Papua New Guinea in the Pacific. MU welcomes both men and women.
Our mission is to show our Christian faith through the promotion of family life and the care and protection of children.
Over the years, our Wokingham branch has supported our local families with parenting courses, many local charities, hospitals locally and in Oxford and provide continued support for our Wednesday Morning Mums families. In the UK, MU support the provision of holidays for needy families and in Third World countries with the Numeracy and Literacy project which aims to educate and enable families to thrive independently.
Our branch meets once a month and we have a varied programme, with a mixture of day and evening meetings. We pay a subscription to the Diocese, currently £35 per year. So, for less than the price of a monthly cup of coffee at Starbucks, it’s very good value for money!
We would really like to kickstart our branch year with an influx of new members. If you’d like to find out more about us, please come to our AGM next Wednesday at 7.15pm in The Cornerstone. We begin with tea and biscuits for a 7.30pm start. After the business of the meeting (which is usually quite brief), we shall have a short presentation tribute to Queen Elizabeth, our late patron, and conclude the evening with a toast to King Charles.
We’d love to see some new faces. Come and find out more about us.
