Climate Matters Team

We have a Climate Matters team at All Saints, this is a group which drives the initiative for us to become a more eco-friendly church. We meet every couple of months and organise events and projects to support greener living. We are currently working on an earth fayre which will be held in the church in autumn 2023. We organise speakers to come to the church and encourage the congregation to consider their own lifestyles and practises. If you would like to join our team please email climatematters@allsaintswokingham.org.uk

What are we doing as a church right now?

– We are planning an Earth Fayre for Sept 2023

– We ran a Lent campaign encouraging everyone in the church to make an Eco-pledge for Lent

– We are planning a trip up to London for the biggest climate protest yet – on 21st April,  click here for more info

– Our electricity is supplied from renewable sources; and we host an array of solar panels on The Cornerstone

– We maintain our 4- acre churchyard in ways which encourage biodiversity and we are developing projects to better understand, conserve and promote the biodiversity

– We observe the Season of Creation as a church and regularly encourage reflection, prayer, thought and action on environmental sustainability issues

– We run an Instagram account about climate matters

– We are supporting Soulscape in their climate action project CARE at a local secondary school.

What are we working on?

We have filled in the Eco Church survey and identified a few areas that we can be working on, including Lifestyle and encouraging lifestyle chances, so we are using Lent 2023 as focus for this. We are also organising an Earth Fayre for Creationtide (Sept) 2023 and hope to host a number of local charities and organisations who are doing incredible and inspiring work around care for the planet.
