Following a review of our charity giving, in February 2025 it was decided that as a church we would:
- Give 5% of our pledged income per year to charity (inc gift aid) but that this should be kept under review and if finances improve then it might be amended.
- We will give to 5 charities and that each of these will have a champion
- The champion will organise one Sunday a year where we will focus on that charity (with a speaker and stall/information about the charity) – they may also wish to organise extra fundraisers
- The five charities should be a mixture of local and international but should be Christian or at least strongly aligned with our values
- Suggested charities for the next 3 years are:
- Christian Aid – we have supported them for a long time, they have a Christian ethos but work across the world for peace and justice – Peter Barratt to champion
- USPG – They are a Anglican mission agency that partners with churches worldwide to work to enliven faith, strengthen relationships, unlock potential and champion justice– Revd Hannah to champion.
Charities still to be agreed:
-
- PACT
- Soulscape
- Potters Village
An important aspect of our giving to charity is that we raise awareness of the charities and their work

We will focus on Christian Aid in May this year, as part our of fundraising efforts for Christian Aid week.
Christian Aid exists to create a world where everyone can live a full life, free from poverty.

We have decided to focus on USPG for Lent and look forward to welcoming a speaker from USPG on 23rd March. USPG work with Anglican churches across the world in a variety of mission projects such as running gender justice workshops in Gambia, supporting young people in leadership, ministry and mission training in the Middle East, to running projects that support the settlement of refugees and asylum-seekers in Romania.
During Lent we will be supporting USPG‘s Lent Appeal supporting Gaza and the West Bank with much needed medical support – https://uspg.org.uk/current-appeal/
If you would like to give you can do so via the retiring collection after our services during Lent, or via our website (coming soon)
