Progress report – 27th October 2022
On site on Monday this week were electricians finishing off the conduit for the power cables, groundworkers digging the trench near The Cornerstone outside toilet door where the hot water pipework will emerge from the boilers and the heating contractors working on the header and valves for the heating distribution in the church. It was great to see the place so busy.
The more astute among our readers may have noticed that we made no mention last week of the very important white pipe work that runs in a circle round the church and a smaller one in the Lady Chapel (in this picture). This is the hearing loop and all areas should be served by it – assuming of course that the person leading the service or activity is using a microphone.
Something else is beginning to take shape a couple of hundred miles away – pallet loads of stone of stone for the floor – certainly the single most expensive item and probably the most significant of all the work. They are all labelled to be delivered to us – just as soon as the screed has been laid and has dried out.
Thank you to all of you who are continuing to give to the appeal. We will update you on progress, usually at the beginning of each month. Please continue to pray about what you might give yourself and that all may give generously. The web site has all the details. Think how you can be creative and get sponsored or donate to buy a chair in memory of someone or donate to our organ or main appeals.
Although the building itself is closed, worship continues in The Cornerstone on Sundays (8am, 9.30 and 11.15) and on weekdays (Tuesday and Wednesday at 10 am and Thursday at 9 am) and the bell ringers have access to the tower. There is still access to almost all the churchyard either through the lychgate in London Road or the double gate in Norreys Avenue. The memorials by The Cornerstone and by the vestry door can be accessed by arrangement with the Parish office.
