Wedding reception held in church

A new first was recorded in All Saints Church recently when a wedding drinks and canapes reception was held in the church after a marriage service. Before leaving for a hotel the happy couple also cut their cake in the church too.

Rector of All Saints, Canon David Hodgson, said: “This was a delightful event. When Kat and Ben approached us about the possibility we were extremely pleased to make it happen. Amongst other reasons for accepting the challenge, it was a perfect opportunity to showcase the kind of events that could happen even more frequently and readily with the refurbished church that we are planning in the CC2020 projects, when we will have a much more flexible space, easy access to a servery within the church, and not least , toilets within the building.”

Canon Hodgson also added: “Thanks to the recent generosity of our parishioners the newly-installed heating system which works so well gave us absolute confidence that we could host this event in the middle of November without discomfort to the guests or embarrassment to us.”
