Rector calls the church community to pray and give this May for spaceforall

Canon David Hodgson, Rector of All Saints Wokingham, is calling the All Saints church community to focus in the month of May on spaceforall with prayer and giving. A target sum has been set for the church community in its direct giving to achieve the first phase of opening up the church building as a flexible and accessible community space.  Of the £350,000 giving target from the church, £160,000 had been given by the start of May, leaving a further £190,000 to be found by direct giving. An appeal team of some 12 church members headed by Judith Scott is engaged in contacting as many church members as possible for an opportunity to discuss their gift. Canon Hodgson has written to every registered church member explaining the opportunity now presented to start the work in the Autumn if funds are raised over the coming weeks.

He said:

“Spaceforall means our church building will be a blessing to the whole town and be secured as an inspiring home of Christian worship and service well into the future. With God’s blessing and generosity, we aim this May to reach our church community giving target. May we give this May to spaceforall!”

On Sunday 23rd May, Pentecost Sunday,  a special thanksgiving celebration of giving for spaceforall is planned.

Further funds to make up the £1 million total needed are being sought from grant-making bodies and a wider community fundraising appeal is planned for the summer. To date £570,000 , including what the church community has given already, has been collected.
