Going outside
A lack of space in The Cornerstone yesterday evening meant that we came up with a new plan for our Ascension Day evening service – we held it in the garden of All Saints Rectory. Fortunately the weather was kind. Celebrating the ascension of Christ into heaven whilst we had a clear view of the skies above during the service was especially appropriate. Song birds stood in for the chorus of angels as we praised God, and we were certain the birds were joining in the hymns as they paused their singing in the very moment we moved from one verse to the next! I was delighted to make my first sighting of this summer’s swifts overhead as the service progressed. Even the midges blessed us by not biting.
The photograph shows members of the congregation gathering before the start of the service.
