Rector’s message 15th July 2022 – celebrating children

This Sunday we are delighted to welcome to all our morning services as guest speaker Emma Cantrell of the First Days charity in Wokingham. Emma is a social justice campaigner, influencer and organiser. She is the Founder and Chief Exec of First Days which works to  give choice, restore dignity and empower families who are living with a low income or are experiencing financial hardship. We asked Emma to speak to help us understand more about how children and families facing hardship can be supported.

This is the Sunday in the year when, traditionally, we have celebrated children and young people in the church. This year we are widening the view and celebrating all children in the community. First Days celebrates children by working to make sure all children can be safe, be confident in school, and have lots of fun as children should.

You can help by bringing to The Cornerstone on Sunday donations of small items to help families facing hardship right now – especially nappies and children’s toiletries. Visit the First Days website for a detailed list.
