Rector’s message 13th May 2022

This Sunday 15th May it is the Annual Church Meeting. It will take place in person in The Cornerstone main hall at 11am. This is when we meet as a church together to hear from our Parochial Church Council (PCC), which is the church’s governing and trustee body;  and talk about  what it has done over the last year,  and the plans for the year ahead. We receive the church’s annual accounts and other reports of the church’s activities; and we elect churchwardens and members of the Parochial Church Council. There is an address by me as Rector about the priorities for the church in the coming year.

There are in fact two meetings back to back. The first is a short meeting which all residents of the ecclesiastical parish of Wokingham (not only church members), and also members of the church electoral roll, are entitled to attend for the election of the churchwardens  This simply elects the churchwardens for the parish. Historically it’s called the Vestry Meeting.  Immediately afterwards there is the more substantial Annual Parochial Church Meeting,  restricted to members of the church electoral roll. This is when the PCC members are elected. All reports are available on the church website here. I look forward to seeing you at the meeting.
