Popular Christingle service raised hundreds of pounds for vulnerable children

A busy Christingle Service at All Saints Church celebrated Christ the light of the world and raised £300 for The Children’s Society’s work across the country.

During the service children made their own Christingles from prepared assembly packs; which were then lit to illuminate the darkened church.

After the service the congregation enjoyed a festive tea in The Cornerstone. Centrepiece of the tea was the special Christingle cake made by local Children’s Society committee member, Lesley Bakes.

Rector, Canon David Hodgson, who led the service said: ” The Christingle is a symbol easily appreciated that the love of Christ shines in the the bleakest places and times of life, and the work of the Children’s Society is a tangible and practical expression of that love for this county’s most vulnerable children.”
