Bellringing

Maybe you saw my article in May’s parish magazine about the joys of ringing.  We would love to have you join us as a ringer.  Why not find a friend/relative and try out ringing as a pair?  Or just come as you are.  We’ll happily arrange a taster session for you.  Just be prepared for a lifetime’s enjoyment of this pastime.  Contact myself (0780 557 9920) or Jane Mellor for more info.

Christian Aid Week, 11th-17th May

Christian Aid is one of the charities we support as a church – Christian Aid is a global movement of people, churches and local organisations. We are the changemakers, the peacemakers, the mighty of heart. Their core values are dignity, equality, justice and love. They seek to end poverty and build a world where everyone can thrive and share life in its fullness.

There will be a retiring collection for the work of Christian Aid after the Sunday services on 11th and 18th May.  Payments by card or cash are welcome and if you pay by cash please use a blue envelope if you are  a taxpayer so we can reclaim the gift aid.  Thank you.

We encourage you to attend the service at 6pm on 11th May at the Methodist Church to learn more about their amazing work with a speaker from the charity.

PCC

PCC is the governing body of the parish church, made up of clergy and members of the congregation. It operates like a board of trustees and is responsible for the wellbeing of the church: its members and buildings.  We meet about 12 times a year, currently on a Wednesday evening. The APCM in May is an opportunity for more people to get involved – if anyone is interested in joining the PCC please speak to Hannah or one of the wardens

APCM

This is our annual general meeting which will take place on Sunday 18th May at 9:30am in church – please note on this day there will be an 8am service, followed by pastries  and coffee – served from 8:45am – to which all are invited. This will hopefully allow members of both         congregations to come together socially and for the meeting.  The Parish Communion service (usually 9:30am) will then start at 10:30am.

Can you help out in the Churchyard?

Our next working party is Saturday 12th April 9-12 and one of the things we are keen to do is move the large/soil/spoil heap – this will be hard work – if you can help specifically with this, come along 9-10:30am and bring wheelbarrows and shovels. Thank you!

Confirmation Service at Al Saints

We will have a confirmation service here at All Saints on 8th June at 6pm

Our confirmation prep classes will start week commencing 21st April for 6 weeks. We will have separate prep classes for adults and young people.  We are considering Thursday evenings for the adult classes and will arrange the young people’s classes once we know how many are attending.

Please contact Hannah

Maundy Thursday— 17th April

On Maundy Thursday morning prayer  there will be foot washing,  9am, for a 9.15am start. Those who wish may have one foot washed, those  who would prefer may have a hand washed instead.

Our evening service this year will be at 7.45pm and will include optional foot washing for those who wish to take part.  This service will be followed by an optional  vigil in the Lady Chapel        remembering Jesus’ words to his disciples to ‘watch and pray’.  At least 2 people will be present for each slot, so please sign up and feel free to come along even if the slot is filled.  A sign up sheet will be in church.
