Joint churches’ prayer service for Ukraine hosted by All Saints Church

2022 04 05 09.43.27

A special Churches Together in Wokingham service of prayer for Ukraine at The Cornerstone was well-supported. The event was organised by members of All Saints Church Wokingham on behalf of all the churches in the town and led by The Reverend Becky Medlicott.  It was in response to a national call to churches and Christians from Churches Together in Britain and Ireland to mark Sunday 3rd April as a day of prayer for Ukraine across the whole of the British Isles.

Participants created a sunflower of prayers reflecting their hope and prayers in this crisis.  The sunflower is the national emblem of Ukraine for historical reasons. Particpants  were reminded that the sunflower always turns to the light,  and prayer for Ukraine is a way of turning the whole situation towards the light of God.

A moving video of Ukrainians reading verses of Psalm 31 was shown. It can be viewed online here

Member of All Saints Church Peter Barrett read his meditation The Lord’s Prayer (extended dance mix): adapted from Rev. Nadia Bolz-Weber.  Read it here

Questions for reflection were also shared – see here
