Show your support for spaceforall and get exercise whilst you do it by joining the spaceforall at All Saints Church team playing the ‘Beat the Street’ outdoor activity game, which is taking place in Wokingham from 8th June – 20th July.
This is a fun community event, and being part of our team will help to promote spaceforall and increase people’s awareness of what we are planning at All Saints (no money collecting involved). Adults and children welcome – adults only to register as team members.
Instructions for Joining
Go online to www.beatthestreet.me
Register as an individual in Wokingham and give yourself a public username and password to sign up.
*NEW* Collect your plastic swipe card from the Parish Office in The Cornerstone, or the back of All Saints Church on Sundays, or Wokingham Library (check opening hours) or Aldi supermarket in Wokingham.
( If not obvious at Aldi make sure to ask a manager- not all staff seemed aware – check inside on window sill at front of store.).
Go back online at the Beat the Street website , log in to your account and register your swipe card using both numbers on front and back of card..
You cannot join a team until you enter your swipe card numbers.
On the drop-down list of teams select “spaceforall at All Saints Church” as your team
Email Jane at the Parish Office to tell us you have joined our team and request a T-shirt in your size.
Check the map of Wokingham on the Beat the Street website and start planning your walking/cycling/running routes taking in as many of the “Beat Boxes” as you can where you can swipe your card.

Aim of the game
Earn as many points as possible for you and your team by walking, running, scooting, cycling or rolling between Beat Boxes across Wokingham Tuesday 8th June 2021 – Tuesday 20th July 2021.
Set Up
Children aged 11 and under play with a Beat the Street fob, which they will receive from their school. Anyone aged 12 and above plays with a Beat the Street card. Create your account online, and once you’ve collected your card or fob, connect your fob to your account. Each player will need their own account. Use the Beat Box map to plan your route and get going!
The game in Wokingham runs from 0.01am on Tuesday 8th June 2021 until 7pm on Tuesday 20th July 2021.
Please be aware these dates are subject to change. We are working alongside Wokingham’s public health advisors to ensure the game can be launched safely.
Playing the game
- Find Beat Boxes nearest to you on the map.
- Hover your card or fob in front of the Beat Box until it beeps and flashes.
- Walk, cycle, run or scoot to a different Beat Box within an hour.
- Swipe the Beat Box with your card and fob until it beeps and flashes to score 10 points.
- Now carry on your journey and score more points for each extra Beat Box you swipe.
Win Beat the Street
The teams at the top of the leaderboard at the end of the game win hundreds of pounds worth of vouchers. There are leaderboards for school & community teams. Highest average and highest points prizes are available.
Registered players can also win weekly Lucky Box prizes such as vouchers and Beat the Street goodies for taking part.
Children can also complete challenges and receive certificates.
Hints & Tips
Create an account and connect your card or fob to join a team, track your points and win prizes. Help your team by getting friends and family to join in the game – further cards are available through local distribution points.
Play Beat the Street on your way to school or work, or play at weekends.
If more than an hour passes since swiping a Beat Box you will need to start a new journey.

Definitions
Beat Box – contactless card and fob reader attached to street furniture across your area.
Card – contactless cards for adults to hover against Beat Boxes to score points. The card needs to be registered online to join a team.
Fob – contactless keyring for children under 11 to swipe against Beat Boxes to score points. These should be registered online to monitor points and miles and to be in with a chance to win individual prizes. However, there is no requirement to as these come pre-assigned to school teams and will automatically contribute to the team’s total – but you will not be able to monitor individual performance.
Lucky Box– draws will take place throughout the game where a swipe on a Beat Box from a registered player will be awarded a prize.
Cheating – driving between Beat Boxes, swiping multiple cards and fobs per person (this refers to one person swiping multiple cards and fobs), or using someone else’s card or fob constitutes as cheating.
