The Bishop of Reading is the Rt Revd Mary Gregory.

Mary was consecrated Bishop of Reading in February 2025.

Mary was ordained in 2005, and served her curacies and early incumbencies in the Dioceses of Sheffield and Leicester. Before becoming ordained, she worked in the prison service, including as a governor at Wakefield and Moorland prisons. She studied theology at Cranmer Hall, Durham. Most recently, Mary was Canon for the Arts and Reconciliation at Coventry Cathedral, which has a global reputation for its work on reconciliation.

The Bishop of Reading works closely with the Archdeacon of Reading, the Ven Stephen Pullin, and the associate archdeacon, the Revd Liz Jackson. Other colleagues also provide specialist advice and support in the area of Reading.
