Homeless Night Shelter plan moves forward

Plans by Wokingham’s churches to provide winter night shelter accommodation for those sleeping rough in the town are moving ahead. All Saints Church and The Cornerstone will be part of the scheme.

All Saints’ Churchwarden Clive Charlton writes: “The Wokingham Churches are proposing to set up a night shelter for the homeless in January and February 2020. It will be managed by an experienced organisation, the Pilgrim Hearts  It is planned that The Cornerstone will be the venue for Sunday nights. We will need volunteers for welcoming & talking to the guests as well as providing an evening meal, and then breakfast the following morning, There are many other ways to support such as occasional washing of sleeping bags and pillowcases, providing food, staying overnight and of course prayer. If Sunday night is not possible for you to help, volunteers are needed at another church in town. Please come to an information meeting on Wed 23rd October 7:45pm Wokingham Baptist Church or speak to Clive Charlton or the Rector.”
