“God loves us and nothing can separate us from this love. You don’t need to earn it. There is nothing you can do to stop it. There is nothing you need to do to receive it”.
Bishop Stephen Cottrell, former Bishop of Reading and soon to become the next Archbishop of York, makes this claim in his book Do Nothing to Change your Life.
Our next series of discussion groups start soon, inspired by Bishop Stephen Cottrell’s book He contends that our busy lives, work, family, friends and endless tasks leave us with little time to sleep, never mind time to stop and reflect.
In his words “ we need to stop imagining everything is so urgent…the energy and creative power that people experience in the inner stillness of resourceful repose has, as its source, an energy and creative power that is itself love…God is love. Not God is loving, but God is love itself.”
We invite you to join us on Zoom over three consecutive weeks in friendly discussion as we explore some of the ideas Stephen promotes in his book. The first session will be on Tuesday 12th May at 11:00-12:30 and repeated on Thursday 14th May at 19:30-21:00. The next two sessions will follow at the same times on consecutive weeks.
Do try and join these discussions. The last set we ran during Lent proved to be a very popular and enjoyable way of meeting up and staying in touch with friends and colleagues whilst discussing Christian faith from the comfort of your own home.
