‘Standing in the Gap’ – Exploring the Response of the Church to Mental Health, Homelessness & Poverty
This event, being run by Faith in the Community (Wokingham Borough) provides an opportunity for Christians to find out more about mental health, homelessness and poverty locally and nationally and to explore ways in which we can respond to the issues raised. Two reports will be launched – one focusing on mental health locally and the other on homelessness. Our keynote speaker will be Martin Charlesworth who runs Christian charity ‘Jubilee Plus’ and has written books ‘The Myth of the Undeserving Poor’ and ‘A Church for the Poor’ and there will also be interactive workshops and ‘digital stories’.
The event will be held on Saturday 2nd December from 10.00am-2.30pm at Lower Earley Baptist Church, Maiden Place, Lower Earley. It is free of charge but tickets must be purchased by email before 27th November– firstname.lastname@example.org or by searching for ‘Standing in the Gap’ on www.eventbrite.co.uk. A sandwich buffet will be provided. For further information, please contact Jeremy Sharpe on 07970 100131.
