As you may know, the Christian Aid (CA) team in Wokingham decided this year to raise funds for a specific CA project in Bangladesh – over and above anything we raised during CA Week in May.
The reason we were attracted to this is that the EU promised to match any funds we raise by a factor of five i.e., for every £1 raised, we get an extra £5 for the project – £6 in total. This is why we called it The Multiplier.
The deadline was the end of last year. We aimed for £3k as a minimum goal with £5k as a stretch target.
Well …
We beat £3k. We beat our stretch target. We even beat double our stretch target! Thanks to you (and the other churches in the town), we raised £13.9k! But, of course, when you add in the EU matching, the total becomes £83.4k – which has to be the most the Wokingham Group has ever raised for CA (at least as far as I can remember).
So, many thanks to everyone who contributed to this project. Through CA and their partners, this money will go to people who are on the margins of what is already a very poor country. Thank you for being so generous.
