Leaders of the children’s and youth groups which meet on Sunday mornings at All Saints Church were presented to the congregation at Parish Communion on 8th September and prayers were said for them. This was the opening Sunday of the new term for Junior Church and X-plore groups which meet in The Cornerstone during the time of the Parish Communion service. Commissioning prayers were led by the Rector The Reverend Canon David Hodgson who asked all church members to pray every Sunday for the children and youth leaders whose work is often invisible to those members who do not have a direct connection with it. He said, ” Those we commission to lead the children’s and youth work on Sundays exercise an important ministry in our church enabling children and young people to explore what the good news of Christ means to them.”
Additionally, because it was Education Sunday all those present in the church who are involved in schools, colleges, education and training were asked to stand and receive prayer for their work at the start of the new academic year.
Junior Church is for children from aged 3 years to 10 years; X-Plore for 10+ years.
Families with children under 3 years are very welcome at the 9.30am Parish Communion but may find that the 11 am Family Service suits them better with its shorter service time (35 mins) and hands-on activities they can do with their children.
