All Saints Church has celebrated the 25th anniversary of the first ordination of women as priests within the Oxford Diocese which took place on 16th April 1994. The church also recalled the 12 women who have either served as priests in the parish or have been called from the congregation of All Saints to ordination and go on to serve elsewhere. The Reverend Hannah Higginson, Associate Priest, presided as a special anniversary Eucharist and The Reverend Colin James who was very active in the campaign for women’s ordination gave a talk recalling the days of the campaign and the vote in General Synod authorising the move in 1992. After the service, a celebratory cake was cut by Hannah Higginson and enjoyed by the congregation. As well as Hannah Higginson also present was The Revd Helen Charlton who was called to the priesthood and ordained in 2010 whilst a member of the congregation and served her first post at All Saints before going on to work as Assistant Diocesan Director of Ordinands and Associate Priest at Twyford.
