At All Saints Church this year our Lent focus will be on respecting and appreciating the world which God has given us to care for. This encompasses the whole breadth of life on the planet including humanity too.
Sadly our Lent groups are now cancelled for the rest of Lent because of COVID-19 virus. But we encourage you to read a new book written especially for Lent this year, Saying Yes to Life by Ruth Valerio. She is Global Advocacy and Influencing Director at the Christian aid agency Tearfund and she combines expertise in the environment, the Bible and social action.
This book lifts our focus from every day (and perfectly natural) concerns to issues that are impacting millions of lives around the world. You will discover more about how we can look after what God has made and share in the joy and creativity of God in making a difference for good.
Ruth Valerio imaginatively draws on the Days of Creation in the story in the Book of Genesis (1 – 2.2) and looks at the themes of light, water, land, the seasons, other creatures, humankind, Sabbath rest and resurrection hope. She relates these to matters of environmental, ethical and social concern.
The book helps us explore together more about what it means to be a follower of Jesus in these changing and challenging times. Saying Yes to Life is a very accessible book.
