We are a global movement of people, churches and local organisations.
We are the changemakers, the peacemakers, the mighty of heart.
Aims
Everyone is equal in the sight of God. Yet we live in a world where poverty still persists. Poverty is an outrage against humanity. It robs people of their dignity and lets injustice thrive. But together we have the power to transform lives.
For over 70 years, we’ve been standing with the poorest of our neighbours. We work in 37 countries, with people of all faiths and none, to stand up for dignity, equality and justice. Together we can create a world where everyone can live a full life, free from poverty.
History
Our ground-breaking work began in 1945, when we were founded by British and Irish churches to help refugees following the Second World War. For more than 75 years, we have provided humanitarian relief and long-term development support for poor communities worldwide, while highlighting suffering, tackling injustice and championing people’s rights.
All Saints and Christian Aid
All Saints Church has supported Christian Aid for decades. It is one of its main charities.
We promote Christian Aid Week in May every year by collecting house-to-house and sponsoring church members on the annual 5, 10 or 15-mile walk around Bix, north of Henley. The walk is organised by one of our church members and there’s always plenty of All Saints people on the walk acting as monitors. We also donate all the proceeds from our Christmas Crib services to Christian Aid (which are very well attended – typically 700-800 people in total). The chair of the Christian Aid group for all the Wokingham churches (Peter Barrett) is also an All Saints member.
The work Christian Aid do is vital to eliminate poverty and we see it as an expression of our faith to support their work.
