A first for churches at Wokingham May Fayre

Mayor at fayre

Wokingham’s Town Mayor Cllr Tony Lack and Mayoress, Mrs Claire Lack, try out the wedding cutout at the May Fayre stall

It was another first time event for Wokingham churches, All Saints and St Paul’s, when they jointly ran a stall at Wokingham’s May Fayre on the May Day Bank Holiday Monday. Clergy from both churches spent time on the stall through the day together with other members of both churches.

The stall promoted church weddings in a fun way with free gifts of Loveheart sweets and a cardboard cut-out of a wedding couple for visitors to pop their faces into. The stall also contained a display of the changes to the church building at All Saints Wokingham now going on as part of its spaceforall community project. Members of the spaceforall project team  from All Saints were on hand to explain it to visitors.

Canon David Hodgson said: ” It was brilliant to see so many Wokingham people out and about enjoying the community spirit and the sunshine we were lucky to have;  really good to be sharing in the event with our friends from St Paul’s Church; and lovely to meet new people, as well as catch up with some friends we had not seen for a while because of the disruption to all our lives over the past two years.”
