Our Vision
“All Saints will be a loving church accessible to all including children and youth, which is active in the heart of the community and where all can grow their gifts and faith in God”
All Saints will be a church full of life, love and energy; where souls are nourished; where people can be themselves and feel at home without any sense of it being a club for a select group of people. We will be regularly and genuinely welcoming newcomers where all can mix, and all ages feel welcome. All Saints Church will feel good to be involved with; reaching people who wouldn’t have thought of themselves as religious or church goers.
Everyone will enjoy identifying their gifts and being supported to use and develop them to the full; in ways that really build up the church and the wider community. For example, we will be training and coaching people to be worship and group leaders in church and community contexts, promote mission agencies, run social justice campaigns, or set up community groups. There will be lots of opportunities to participate in sharing the love of God in Jesus. There will always be people on a journey of growth and training, discovering God’s calling on their lives.
All Saints will be a church in the heart of the community; known as ‘active citizens’ who are making a difference. The church will be getting involved in projects that are really important; enabling creative solutions for local people and speaking out on local issues where there needs to be a voice to ask the awkward questions. There will be regular open events on issues and concerns of importance. All Saints will be a church celebrating and engaging with the arts and culture through regular events and ongoing music programmes; using the best of our artistic culture in the way the church communicates with others.
All Saints will be innovative. Trying our best it won’t matter if we don’t get it 100% right first time. New activities and new faces will be normal. People and groups will be trying out new things and evaluating them regularly. These events will not be restricted to events in church or the Cornerstone but across the parish.
There will be a stronger emphasis on children and youth. We will be fully working with our full-time youth leader to integrate children and young people into the Christian life – whether it is inside the church or outside in the community. All Saints will make a difference in the lives of children and teenagers in Wokingham.
Everyone will have a good or growing understanding of the Bible and our Christian faith through taking part in groups or courses learning from the Bible and Christian teachings and allowing that learning to influence our lives. There will be programmes of courses developing faith and its application in life at all levels running in continuous cycle. It will be easy for people to find out more about what being and living as a Christian involves.
The church building will have modern facilities like screens, good lighting, wi-fi, easy set up for staging and electric instruments amplification so we can do more contemporary worship and be an effective venue for music and larger conference-style events. There will be lots of good music which inspires and uplifts and lots of singing which will be accessible for people to join in with and praise God. It will be the go-to-place for music events with a large audience, who will also be connecting with our community service activities and our programmes of courses.
